Itinerary

Our adventure starts in the “Cidade Maravilhosa”, Rio de

Janeiro, the most visited city of South America, with over 1.5 million tourists! Host to the 2016 Olympic Games and the main host of the 2014 World Cup. Famous landmarks such as the Christ Redeemer statue or Sugar Loaf Mountain are “must visit” locations, but with OAT we will take you further into the cultural and everyday carioca’s (people from Rio) life aspects.

Then, we will fly to Manaus, the entrance door to Amazonas. Here we will stay 1 night. Before we check into the ship, we will explore the city.

We will sail for 3 nights on our chartered small ship, to explore the Negro River upstream. Our small ship is exactly what we need to discover the natural beauty of the Amazon, allowing us to get into the smaller streams and discover the fauna and flora up close. We will take an even smaller canoe to explore the Anavilhanas National Park, or to do some  wildlife spotting during the early morning or even at night when we will need our other senses to enhance our travel experience. We will also visit a little village of native habitants of the Amazon

After disembarking, we will stay 2 nights in Brasilia, the capital and political center of the country, where we will discover this city designed and built from zero. We will learn about Brazilian emblematic architect Oscar Niemeyer, considered one of the most important representatives of modern architecture.

Then, we will fly south to Pantanal, one of the biggest wetlands of the world, where our travel experience continues. In the Pantanal our chances to see wildlife will be considerably higher than in the Amazon, as the wetlands are more open. We might see caimans, capybaras, monkeys, macaws, herons and more. From our lodge we will go horseback riding and take riverboat rides to explore these mighty wetlands.

IMPORTANT NOTE: WE DO NOT SEE JAGUARS DURING THIS ADVENTURE.

To finish our great adventure we will fly back to Rio de Janeiro, where we still have one of the main attractions, the Sugar loaf Mountain.
